The Baltimore Homa Community

The Baltimore Homa Community is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting loving and sustainable ways of living based on the practice of Agnihotra and Homa Therapy. The practice of Agnihotra establishes bio-energetic equilibrium and injects nutrients into the atmosphere. It also helps to remove stress and tension from the mind. Most of us have performed daily Agnihotra, the basic sunrise/sunset Homa practice, for over forty years.

As you enter Ancient Oaks farm, you will cross a bridge over a clear running stream. Traveling up the long driveway you will see Aurora, Savanna and Acorn on the left, our Highlander cows and the large community center and barn on the right. Our 300 year old grandmother and grandfather Oak trees welcome you in front of the farmhouse which is surrounded by small landscaped gardens. These 28 acres carry a peacefulness that is almost tangible; setting the tone for the loving harmony we want in our relationship with the earth and the community.

In Service

Serving the children and their families from the heart of Baltimore City has been one of the goals for this farm.   For the last four summers we were able to host busloads of hundreds of children and youth from over ten different camps and schools, offering them a place to hike, learn and  play.  They also receive professionally facilitated programs in mindfulness, yoga, sound healing, drumming and dance.

This vital program gives inner city children a unique opportunity to explore nature, experience Homa atmosphere, and romp and play without fear of traffic, violence or bullets. A typical visit starts with a welcoming circle, led by Maria Broom, which includes a sing-along.   Next, the group hikes up the hill to meet our cows and learn about them. They then continue along the path, and upon returning to the base, they have a choice of activities: facilitated drumming (by the stream under the walnut tree), yoga and sound healing (under the apple tree in the “Secret Garden”) or dance with Maria in the Community Center.
